Will focus on improving access, quality of education to students: Piyush Singla | KNO

Srinagar, Jan 11 (KNO): Newly appointed administrative secretary for School Education Department, Piyush Singla Thursday said that the government will be focusing mainly on improving the access and quality of education to students. Besides, the officer said that the department will be focused on creating a conducive environment for better research and innovations. Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Singla said, “In School Education sector, there are many areas to focus on but primarily the department will be focusing on improving the access and quality of education.” Singla further said that it will be also focusing on the welfare of human resources of the department and all other stakeholders. “Besides our special focus would be on the quality of education in all rural and far flung areas,” he said. The administration added, “We will try to rationalize the Pupil Teacher Ratio (PTR) so that a conducive environment would be created for research and innovation.” Singla said that the teachers in the school education department shall be disciplined. Pertinently, on January-09, Piyush Singla, IAS, assumed charge as the Administrative Secretary of the School Education Department (SED). On the same day, he took a comprehensive review meeting of the department at the civil secretariat in Jammu. During the session, officers from the School Education Department presented a detailed overview of various aspects of the department to the newly appointed administrative secretary. He was informed about the department’s overall functioning of centrally sponsored schemes, the physical and financial progress achieved under UT Capex, human resource management (HRM) challenges, and the department’s best practices and initiatives. Singla on the occasion emphasized the importance of timely completion of Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs), finalization of seniority lists, and the provision of quality infrastructure for students—(KNO)
